What Is Gazyva Used For?
Gazyva is a medication that contains the active ingredient obinutuzumab, used primarily for treating certain types of blood cancers.
Primary Uses
Gazyva is used to treat chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) and follicular lymphoma (FL), especially in patients who have not received treatment before or have not responded to rituximab.
How It Works
Gazyva works by binding to a protein called CD20 on the surface of B lymphocytes, inhibiting their abnormal growth, which is responsible for CLL and FL.

How to Take Gazyva
Gazyva is administered by a healthcare professional through an IV infusion, and the dosage will depend on your specific condition and response to treatment.
Dosage Instructions
For CLL, the first infusion is 100 mg over 4 hours, followed by 900 mg if well tolerated. Subsequent infusions are 1000 mg. For FL, the first infusion is 1000 mg, with subsequent doses also at 1000 mg. Maintenance treatment may continue for up to 2 years.

If you miss an appointment for your infusion, reschedule as soon as possible rather than waiting for the next planned dose.
