What Is Zabep Used For?

Zabep 20 is a proton pump inhibitor that reduces stomach acid production to treat various digestive conditions and allow healing to take place.

Primary Uses

Zabep 20 treats reflux oesophagitis (when stomach acid flows back up the food pipe causing heartburn), helps prevent reflux from returning, treats peptic ulcers in the stomach or duodenum, and works with antibiotics to eliminate Helicobacter pylori bacteria that can cause ulcers and stomach inflammation.

How It Works

Zabep 20 belongs to a group of medicines called proton pump inhibitors. It works by decreasing the amount of acid your stomach makes, providing relief from symptoms and allowing healing to occur. Your food will still be digested normally.

Good to know: Your food will still be digested in the normal way while taking Zabep 20.

How to Take Zabep

Zabep 20 should be swallowed whole with water and never crushed or chewed, as this will prevent it from working properly.

Dosage Instructions

The usual dose is one tablet at the same time each day. The dose is usually 20 mg but may vary from 10 mg to 40 mg per day depending on your condition. For treating Helicobacter pylori infections with antibiotics, take one tablet twice daily (morning and evening) for 7 days. You can take it with or without food.

What If You Miss a Dose?

If it’s almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take your next dose as scheduled. Otherwise, take the missed dose as soon as you remember, then return to your normal schedule.

Important: Never take a double dose to make up for a missed dose. Do not crush or chew the tablets as they have a special coating that protects them from stomach acid.
