What Is Nexium Hp7 Used For?

Nexium Hp7 is a combination pack containing three different medicines that work together to treat peptic ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori bacteria in your stomach.

Primary Uses

Nexium Hp7 is used to kill Helicobacter pylori bacteria in your stomach and allow peptic ulcers to heal. These ulcers can occur in your stomach (gastric ulcer) or in the duodenum, which is the tube leading out from your stomach (duodenal ulcer). Most people with peptic ulcers have this bacteria in their stomach, and killing it prevents the ulcer from returning.

How It Works

The combination contains three medicines: NEXIUM (esomeprazole) is a proton-pump inhibitor that reduces stomach acid to provide symptom relief and allow healing. AMOXIL (amoxicillin trihydrate) and KLACID (clarithromycin) are antibiotics that help kill Helicobacter pylori bacteria. NEXIUM also helps kill the bacteria. When all three are taken together, they are more effective than taking one or two at a time.

Good to know: There is no evidence that NEXIUM Hp7 is addictive.

How to Take Nexium Hp7

It is very important that you take NEXIUM Hp7 exactly as prescribed. The combination must be taken in specific doses twice daily to be effective.

Dosage Instructions

Take the following doses twice daily (morning and night): NEXIUM: one 20 mg tablet, AMOXIL: two 500 mg capsules, KLACID: one 500 mg tablet. Take during or after meals at about the same time each day. Swallow NEXIUM tablets whole with water – do not crush or chew as they will not work properly. For swallowing difficulties, the tablet can be placed in half a glass of non-carbonated water, gently mixed without crushing, then drink and rinse the glass. Continue taking until you finish the complete course or your doctor tells you to stop.

What If You Miss a Dose?

If you miss any of the medicines at the usual time, take it as soon as you remember, as long as it is more than four hours before the next dose is due. If it has been more than 4 hours after you usually take your dose, skip that dose and take the next dose at your usual time.

Important: Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose. You must complete the full course for it to work properly – if you don’t, the bacteria may not clear completely and your symptoms may return.
