What Is Creon Micro Used For?
Creon Micro is a pancreatic enzyme supplement that helps your body digest food when your pancreas doesn’t produce enough digestive enzymes naturally.
Primary Uses
Creon Micro treats pancreatic exocrine insufficiency, a condition where your body doesn’t make enough enzymes to digest food properly. This condition occurs in patients with cystic fibrosis, chronic pancreatitis, or those who have had upper gastrointestinal surgery. Without treatment, you may experience diarrhea, foul-smelling fatty stools that float, bloating, and weight loss.
How It Works
The enzymes in Creon Micro are extracted from pig pancreas and help restore normal digestive function in your body. This relieves abdominal symptoms and improves your nutritional status by helping your body absorb important nutrients from food that would otherwise be lost.
Good to know: There is no evidence that Creon Micro is addictive.
How to Take Creon Micro
Your doctor will prescribe a specific dose of Creon Micro tailored to your condition’s severity. Always follow your doctor’s instructions and don’t change your dose without consulting them first.
Dosage Instructions
Take Creon Micro with every meal and snack. Use the small measuring scoop provided – one scoop contains 100 mg of granules, providing 5,000 units of lipase. Mix the granules with small amounts of acidic soft foods like apple juice or mashed bananas. Swallow immediately without chewing and follow with water or juice. For infants, mix with apple juice and give from a spoon before feeding. The maximum recommended dose for children with cystic fibrosis is 10,000 units per kilogram body weight in 24 hours. Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
What If You Miss a Dose?
If you miss a dose at your usual meal time, wait until your next meal or snack and take your usual number of doses. If it’s almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Don’t take extra doses to make up for missed ones.
Important: Never take a double dose to make up for a missed dose. Don’t increase doses without informing your doctor.
